It's the perfect combination of a stand-up comedy and a lecture; brief yet full of eye opening points to ponder on. She shares so much insight in such short amount of time. You might want to listen to it a few times (I really like the audio version) to let it all sink in. It's also available as an iphone app these days.

Fantastic. Common sense and a great laugh. Have listened to it many times; one can't tire of this CD. Bought one for a friend who loved it as much.

I purchased 15 of these to send to girlfriends,,,, couldn't wait for Xmas so I called it their un-birthday presents...just like Alice in Wonderland! Bombarded with calls and emails....EVERYONE liked and shared it with other friends and ordered more. I think I should be getting a commission!!!...just joking....Happy to spread the JOY!

Listening to this audiobook was an outstanding experience. Dr. Northrup has the recipe for finding joy in every way: mental, physical, social...anyway you can imagine. The recording is incredibly funny, full of great science on how we are hard-wired to be joyful, and a pleasure to listen to. My current plan is to use this as a Christmas gift for a half-dozen of my best friends and family members. The review with the criticism in it, missed the point all together. I posted a comment, if you care to read it. Thanks for using your skills and talents, Dr. Northrup!

Really enjoyed hear her and agree with her thinking!
Do we really need to be prompted to be Joyful?? I'd say yes, sometimes. Time is precious, only so much you can fit in a day that must be done. That's so true but there are always brief moments that can change everything.- Ex: Dad and son walk to corner ice-cream store. Dad mentions along the way how children used to bully his friend. He then learns something shared that needs addressing right away. Ex:On a hike with daughter, Dad learns his daughter tried out for a part in a play but lost the part to a no-show at audition.Dad can be very instructive now about 'earning'rights over someone tried and true vs newcomer This is Dad/child joy. What is yours? Go after it without apology. No other soul has your fingerprint. You are an original. Only you can make your imprint on the life that fits your calling. This book reminds me every day to be grateful for my blessings, challenges me to think outside of my comfort zone to seek those moments that call me to be my best self; best mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, mentor.
